I am dually licensed in MA and RI but have the majority of my insurance credentialing in MA at this time. Please note that I am currently credentialed with BCBS of RI but ALL OTHER INSURANCE credentials are currently through the state of MA. Please reach out with any questions regarding insurance coverage. My other credentialing in RI is pending. Thanks for your understanding!
Prior to my Masters at Boston University, I worked with children at various school settings (elementary, middle, and high school) as a behavioral specialist and counselor. I have a background in conflict resolution, trauma, group therapy, and parental counseling. Within these schools, the majority of my clientele/students came from newly immigrated families from Mexico. I spent a majority of my time working bilingually with these families to support their transition to America and their children's educational goals. Although I have worked with kids quite a lot, I have recently moved toward working mostly with adults and adolescents.
Since earning my Masters, I have worked in homeless shelters, substance abuse treatment facilities, outpatient clinics, and as a Clinical Supervisor. I have the most post-graduate experience in the fields of couples counseling and substance use, but my passion lies with couples and the LGBTQ+ community. As a self-identified member of the Queer community, I am passionate about working with this underserved population and creating a safe space where LGBTQ+ people can receive support without having to explain their identity or experience to someone who does not understand or may judge their experience.
My overall work has consisted in treating substance use, relationship issues, women's issues, LGBTQ+, homelessness, domestic violence, anxiety and depression. I specialize in addressing trauma through a psychodynamic, strengths based approach. I also have experience working with CBT, solution focused, and IFS.
