Marriage and Family Therapist, MFT PhDDr. Dominique Yarritu is a licensed marriage and family therapist located in San Jose, CA, and provides services both in English and French.
She works with clients who find themselves reacting emotionally to major life changes or periods of transition. Some of Dr. Yarritu’s clients are going through the beginning or the end of a serious relationship or have moved to a new city, a new environment or a new country, and are having a difficult time settling in. Others have just started a family, found or lost a job. Dr. Yarritu provides these clients with the perspective they need to get through the changes and feel fulfilled in their lives. She also works with clients who suffer from anxiety and mood disorders or experience increasingly distressing relationships.
Dr. Yarritu’s approach to therapy is humanistic, psychodynamic, and Jungian in nature. She heavily emphasizes the influence of the mind-body connection and unconscious processes in therapy and teaches clients how to harness their mind-body connections for healing and self-growth. She has training in somatic studies and brings this knowledge and her personal experience into the therapeutic relationship. Some of the skills clients learn from Dr. Yarritu are mindfulness practices to help slow down thoughts, emotional reactions and lead to greater self-regulation.
Dr. Yarritu earned a Master’s degrees in Counseling Psychology and a PhD in Depth Psychology with emphasis in Somatic Studies. Her goal is to create a non-judgmental space where every word and every silence is part of the journey towards wellbeing. She hopes to help clients find their authentic inner voices and build resilience.
