Dr. McCann is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Santa Monica, CA. She works with individuals suffering from symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, mood disorders and trauma - including feelings of overwhelming sadness, lack of motivation, panic in social situations, or inability to regulate emotions. Dr. McCann also works with couples seeking support in their relationship, whether that’s through conflict or feeling “stuck.” Her work encourages the development of coping skills for those going through major life transitions and the promotion of well-being in the body as well as the mind.
Dr. McCann utilizes a psychodynamic approach with her clients, meaning she may ask about a client’s experience growing up or relating to others early in life. She’s certified in the Trauma Resiliency Model and creates a safe atmosphere for clients to unpack their traumas and process the emotional impacts of their experiences. Dr. McCann also practices Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an evidence-based treatment for reframing trauma in the brain.
Dr. McCann earned her Masters of Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, and has a degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic, and utilizes this knowledge and skill set in her sessions by emphasizing awareness of the sensations of the body and overall health and well-being. Dr. McCann is currently completing her PsyD in Applied Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
