Dr. Terri A. Shaw is a United States Marine Corps War Veteran and tenured Associate Professor of Psychology at Indiana Tech. During her 12-year service at the University, she was influential in Founding and Chairing the first Diversity & Inclusion Faculty Senate Committee at the University. Dr. Shaw was also instrumental in serving as the advisor for the first student organization with a collective social consciousness focused on the inequities of underrepresented populations. Dr. Shaw is the CEO and founder of Victorious in Christ Counseling and Coaching Kingdom Services, a private practice, in which she functions as a holistic licensed mental health counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist. She is a person-centered clinician that specializes in trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, grief, ADHD, identity, and spiritual life purpose development. Dr. Shaw uses an integration of Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Family Therapy, and Spiritual Systems.
Dr. Shaw is thrilled to be a two times cancer conqueror, anxiety annihilator, trauma victor, faith fighter, and child-loss overcomer. She is an ordained minister and passionate equipping exhorter and ascribes her most enjoyable life assignment to being her family serving as a wife to her husband and mother to her children. Dr. Shaw attributes her successes in life to her strong faith, “others’ centered” values, and commitment to her motto: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
In her clinical role, Dr. Shaw empowers her clients to maximize their potential for engaging in evidence-based positive coping skills that aid them in managing past, present, and future triggers to maladaptive thinking and behavior problems for peace-filled joyful living. She focuses on strength building and resiliency development. Clients are encouraged to be collaborative participators in their healing journeys through authentic reflections, completion of homework assignments, and active evaluation of goal progress.
