Professional statement

Eilon Shomron-Atar is a Clinical Psychologist in New York City who specializes in depression, anxiety, relationships, and trauma. His practice is open to individual adults across the lifespan, and he also works with families and couples.

Individuals often visit Dr. Shomron-Atar when grappling with intense anxiety or sadness, or facing the aftermath of a personal loss. He takes a compassionate, caring approach to create a safe space where clients can explore both their internal selves, as well as examine the way the outside world has shaped their present reality.

Dr. Shomron-Atar strives to appreciate our situated positions in society, and opens a time for clients to think creatively and develop a liberated sensibility in life. He will also work with other practitioners such as nutritionists or holistic providers to help clients on a deeper, more widespread level.

Dr. Shomron-Atar is engaged and present in sessions, and enjoys meeting clients where they are at that moment. It is his hope that clients will not just relieve their stressors and related symptoms, but rather, redevelop a vibrant curiosity for their lives and futures.

Among Dr. Shomron-Atar's commitments, he is a clinical supervisor at Adelphi University's Derner Institute, adjunt instructor of gender and sexuality at CUNY's John Jay College, and volunteers with asylum seakers at the Physicians for Human Rights Asylum Network at the Weill Cornell Center for Human Rights.
