Elena Covo is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and founder of Wellness Journey, Marriage & Family Therapy, PLLC, based in New York. She provides individual therapy to clients who are experiencing a life transition, who may be suffering from anxiety, stress or depression. Specialized in eating disorders, Elena helps individuals overcome their body image issues while healing their relationship with food. Elena also provides family and couples therapy focusing on changing relationship patterns, and improving communication skills.
Elena has a strong experience working with clients who are struggling with self-esteem and self-confidence issues, often triggered by the stress of their lives, potential relationship conflicts, as well as the difficulty in finding the right balance between their personal and work life. In a safe environment, Elena accompanies her clients through their wellness journey, by gaining confidence in their choices, creating meaningful relationships, and feeling more connected within themselves.
Elena has had the opportunity to study and work in two different countries, with a diverse population coming from different backgrounds, allowing her to be more attuned to cultural differences, and the uniqueness of each individual. Elena’s therapeutic approach is rooted in Psychodynamic and attachment theory. While focusing on presenting matters, she also helps her clients connect some experiences from the past to present patterns, struggles and relationship issues. Elena also uses DBT techniques, as well as mindfulness to help her clients regulate their emotions, be more grounded, and feel more in control over their feelings.
