Dr. Elia Villalobos is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist based in Tampa, Florida who works with adults with a focus on women’s health. Many of her clients come in when they notice that symptoms of depression, anxiety, or low self-confidence are affecting their daily lives at home, work, and with others. Dr. Villalobos is particularly sensitive to clients facing moments of transition, like a new health diagnosis, difficulties adjusting to motherhood/parenthood, job loss, burnout or change in careers, and tremble finding balance.
Dr. Villalobos’s approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based approach that focuses on helping clients understand the role of thoughts on feelings and behaviors, so that they can begin to make intentional change. She also works with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, based on identifying clients’ most important values which can serve as the basis for identifying realistic goals. These therapy approaches also help clients to develop flexibility and increase their potential.
Dr. Villalobos' style is compassionate, non-judgmental, and positions clients as the experts on where they are now, and where they want to direct their efforts. As a health psychologist, Dr. Villalobos is sensitive to the influence of physical health issues, culture, trauma, and complicated family dynamics. Her training and experience in medical centers provide her the skills to work with individuals who struggle with sleeping problems, pain, and body discomfort in light of life stressors.
