Professional statement

Elisabeth is a licensed clinical social worker who has been in the field for the past 10 years. She has experience working in a variety of settings, including nursing homes, the bereavement community, a private psychiatry clinic, and community mental health clinics in both Michigan and Georgia. Elisabeth is now in private practice in the Metro Atlanta area and enjoys her time with adult clients who want to work on issues of grief, trauma, anxiety, and feeling less stuck.

Elisabeth enjoys helping clients better understand what underlies their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and connecting this to the things that have shaped them in the past, including important relationships and trauma/attachment experiences. Elisabeth uses a blend of therapeutic techniques and strongly values providing space to build rapport. She is trained in mindfulness, CBT, polyvagal theory (a therapy approach that prioritizes helping the client better understand their nervous system, what has shaped their automatic responses, and how to self-soothe in adaptive ways), DBT, and two evidenced based treatments for PTSD: CPT and EMDR. EMDR is a powerful therapy modality that uses the brain's natural processing system to help clients reprocess past negative experiences in a safe and measured way, allowing clients to leave the past in the past and live more present and connected lives. Similarly, CPT also helps clients move past traumatic experiences by changing the way they think about what has happened to them.

Elisabeth provides in-person sessions in Avondale Estates and virtual sessions to anyone in the state of Georgia.

Message to clients

I meet all my clients with nonjudgment and an open space for processing. My commitment to clients is to work alongside you to help you feel less stuck and develop more clarity about the life you want to live. The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors contributing to success in therapy and while I cannot guarantee specific outcomes, I can commit to meeting you at each session with compassion, honesty, and warmth.
