Professional statement

Elise Nerenberg is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed in new Jersey, who works with young adults, adults and seniors for over 16 years.primary suffering from depression, anxiety, relationship issues and work stress. Most of her clients are highly functional. Many are very successful in their careers or academically, but struggle with dealing with job stress or other relationships that are important to them. Elise is particularly sensitive to clients facing difficulties with their work-life balance, or life transitions, like a job loss, a breakup, or a new medical illness where symptoms of anxiety, depression, and self-doubt can come about maybe even for the first time.

Elise's approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based approach that focuses on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, so that they can begin to make targeted change. She works to help clients understand their physical response to external stressors, and begin to problem-solve ways to introduce moments of calm, to choose to respond rather than react in the face of change. She also uses mindfulness

and writing

Elise helps clients set real goals so that they may see their efforts working in ninety day intervals. She is focused on ensuring that her clients see real progress. Her style is interactive and non-judgmental, and her clients are considered the experts on their life's difficulties and where they want to go.

Elise's first priority with a new client is that they are made to feel safe to express their feelings and heard, and like an equal partner in the therapeutic process. As a seasoned telehealth provider, she offers the convenience of remote sessions to help make therapy a core component of your self-care calendar.

Message to clients

In my practice, I strive to provide a warm, safe space where you may feel free to express yourself without judgement. I will listen to you while you let me know what is most important to you, what you want to work on with me and then help empower you to find the answers within yourself. We will work on both short and long-term goals so that you will gain self-confidence as you see your progress.

I believe that finding the right connection with a therapist is crucial. I look forward to hearing from you and would like to offer you a free 15 minute phone consultation to see if we are a good fit.
