Professional statement

Elizabeth Elliot is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an office in the Logan Square/Avondale neighborhood in Chicago. She specializes in anxiety and panic disorders, depression and mood disorders, maternal mental health, substance abuse, sexual issues, and Millennial issues. Many of her clients are young men and women who recently graduated and are experiencing anxiety or panic for the first time, pregnant women, and new mothers who are navigating depression or the baby blues.

Elizabeth utilizes a number of different treatment approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), interpersonal work, Supportive Therapy, and psychoeducation. She spends time helping her clients better understand their symptoms and what might be triggering them. When working with new moms, Elizabeth likes to get the family involved and will make home visits if appropriate. She also frequently collaborates with nurses, midwives, and a developmental psychologist to ensure her client’s needs are being met.

Elizabeth ultimately wants to help her clients navigate their symptoms and develop healthy coping strategies. She received training in maternal mental health at the Selini Institute and was part of the Illinois Masonic Medical Center Crisis Team for over five years. She looks forward to meeting you.

Message to clients

Hi! I’m Liz. I’m an experienced and compassionate therapist in the Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago. I work with a variety of clients, but central to all my therapeutic relationships is the belief that everyone has the potential to feel and function better and more effectively than they think. Whatever may be troubling you, I will hold space for you while working collaboratively to get at the roots of what may be making your life harder than it needs to be. I am very casual and use humor abundantly, so sitting down with a total stranger and discussing your innermost self isn’t nearly as hard as it might seem. I’d love to meet you!
