Professional statement

Emily Franchi is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Chicago who specializes in trauma, depression, anxiety and social anxiety, and relationship issues. Her practice is open to college students and recent graduates, as well as adults in their 20s and 30s.

When clients come to see Emily, they’re often facing a major life transition – such as completing school or starting a new career – and may be feeling overwhelmed or anxious about all that such a shift implies. In particular, Emily enjoys working with young adults who may be having difficulty navigating the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Emily strives to foster an open, receptive dynamic that allows clients to speak freely about the different stressors they’re juggling. She works with clients to identify areas they can work on, and strongly supports them as they work towards these deeply personal goals.

Emily takes an integrative approach to treatment. She targets therapeutic outcomes involving both short-term symptom management and relief, as well as longer term, more internal change and growth. Emily will help clients develop more effective coping skills to manage and reduce their current symptoms, which may be related to anxiety, depression, insomnia, or panic, utilizing mindfulness, meditation, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). To promote longer term growth and change, Emily uses psychodynamic and family systems therapies, keeping sessions open-ended to allow clients the space and time to actively explore their past and present experiences and relationships.

Her practice is located near Millennium Park, accessible from the Blue and Red lines, where she looks forward to meeting you.

Message to clients

Taking that first step to begin therapy can be overwhelming and anxiety provoking. From the initial phone consultation through the long-term therapeutic process, I aim to create an open, welcoming, and non-judgmental therapy experience where my clients feel empowered to make positive changes in their personal lives and relationships. As your therapist, I will work with you to identify your strengths and to set goals of therapy that excite and motivate you.

I am experienced working with adult individuals struggling with a range of difficulties arising from depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, trauma, low self-esteem, dysfunctional family system and parent relationship issues, history of abuse, and difficulties maintaining healthy adult relationships. I also specialize in working with young adults who are struggling to navigate the difficult transition from adolescence into adulthood, and help these individuals establish a strong sense of self and long-term personal and career goals.

Please contact me for your free phone consultation when you can learn more about my practice and how therapy can help you experience more fulfillment in your relationships, career, and daily life.
