Professional statement

Emily is a licensed clinical social worker who is currently offering virtual services. She is committed to her work with adults, young adults, and couples based in New York who are navigating issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, life transitions, adjustment, family dynamics, and more. Emily graduated with her Master’s of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in New York City. Passionate about helping others, Emily’s past professional experiences included private psychotherapy practice, clinical & medical research, and school social work.

With her calm and compassionate demeanor, as well as empathetic listening, Emily strives to cultivate a warm and judgment-free therapeutic environment where clients will feel comfortable, safe, and heard. She incorporates a diverse range of therapeutic tools and techniques that are tailored to the client’s unique goals and concerns. Her integrated approach utilizes various modalities, including CBT, motivational interviewing, strengths-based, and person-centered perspectives. With a trauma-informed lens, Emily collaborates with clients to understand how past experiences have shaped who they are, explore the roots of their fears and negative emotions, and identify coping strategies that will build resilience and self-esteem.

Emily believes that the most transformative component of psychotherapy is the therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist, one that is rooted in trust, respect, and collaboration. Emily’s goal is to highlight the client’s strengths, while also working together to explore and identify helpful and creative approaches to navigating life’s ups and downs.

Please note that all sessions are currently being conducted virtually. If you would like to schedule a consultation or if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and connect,

Message to clients

Taking the first step to seek therapy is a big accomplishment. Whether you are struggling with a crisis, looking for a casual space to talk and reflect, or something in between, we can take on your challenges together. As partners, we can work to better understand your past experiences and how they inform your life and relationships. I offer a safe, warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can heal from trauma and difficult experiences. We will work together to understand how those life events have shaped, and continue to shape, who you are.

My objective is to provide an empathetic and validating atmosphere for you to share and reflect on any thoughts and feelings you are experiencing. My style is honest, open, and collaborative, and our work together will be tailored and adjusted to meet your unique needs and goals. In particular, I am committed to working with you to build confidence, self-esteem, and greater comfort in who you are. I believe that you are the expert on your own life, so my role will be to listen, understand, and help you make connections. Together, we can dig deep into the roots of your fears or trauma and explore coping strategies. I can support you through creative problem-solving to navigate these challenges.

Life has many ups and downs, and we shouldn’t have to go through the difficult moments alone. These challenges can be an opportunity for growth, healing, and empowerment. We can collaborate to work through this together.
