Professional statement

Finding the right therapist can be difficult. Eric has been in the practice of therapy for over 20 years. Eric is a Los Angeles based Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Eric works with people across the life span who have experienced sudden changes such as a death of a loved one, end of a relationship, new job, relocating, or a realization the future they pictured for themselves will not come. Eric also works with people who overthink things, become worried about the future, and those who have addictions and compulsions.

Eric’s main modality of treatment is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidenced-based approach that focuses on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected so they can make changes. Eric also employs nontraditional approaches such as walking in nature with a client during session. This can have a calming effect on the nervous system. Research shows that time in nature can improve a person's mood and increase creativity.

Eric focuses on helping clients see real progress in therapy. His style is described as non-judgmental and affirming. Eric uses trauma-informed care to help guide him in the therapeutic process with clients. Eric does not judge what issues or behaviors clients come in with, he sees them merely as responses to trauma that no longer serve the client. Eric’s number one priority is that a client feels seen, heard, validated, and starts to feel better.

Message to clients

What if I were to tell you what you are feeling is not your fault. The heavy weight on your shoulders, lower back, stomach is not your doing. Your constant overthinking, comparing yourself to others did not originate with you. Your addiction and compulsion did not spring up overnight, it was long in the making. Your constant search for fulfillment through others or things, does not start nor end with you. What if I were to tell you that all I described above and more was a product of events external to you and that you have the agency to transcend these issues. You are not trapped. I deeply believe we have the power to transcend the issues that bring us to therapy. As your therapist my role is to uncover the “answers” you already have within you and help you put them together into a foundation of understanding and compassion towards self and others.
