Professional statement

Erica Barton is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon. She helps women heal from anxiety, body image and disordered eating, chronic pain, and trauma. She specializes in working with women athletes, graduate students, and professionals. She has also been an experienced trauma-informed, therapeutic yoga teacher for over a decade.

Erica's style is compassionate, insightful, and relational. Erica is trained in body-oriented therapies, mindfulness, therapeutic yoga, and somatic therapies, which helps clients access deep healing beyond talk therapy alone. In session, we use tools to attune to the intelligence of the body, which can guide our work to a deeper wisdom and unlock pathways to healing beyond the thinking mind. This approach supports clients to feel at peace within themselves, more comfortable in their own skin, and more confident in relationships. Erica supports women to embody more joy and peace from within.

Erica is invested in creating an inclusive practice that is rooted in social justice and liberation, and mindful of the different collective systems that each client is a part of. All parts of you are welcome.

Outside of private practice, Erica studies yoga and meditation, makes art, and spends time exploring and reflecting in nature. She is available for teletherapy sessions for clients in the state of Oregon.

Message to clients

Many people who first work with me feel stuck and alone, and may have even tried other ways to feel better. Much of the time, they've noticed their work, relationships, and other areas of their life are affected by the way they're feeling internally. They struggle with self doubt and are often extra hard on themselves. Sometimes they feel vaguely disconnected from themselves or their relationships. They may be adjusting to changes in their life or in their body that add to their struggle.

It's possible to find relief from anxiety, pain, and loneliness, and to feel more comfortable in your own skin. Our work together can help you to heal from past trauma in order to move forward in your life with more joy and a felt sense of peace, as well as more fulfilling relationships. We can deconstruct harmful conditioning or systems that may make it hard for you to feel free to be your best self in the world. Mind-body therapies can facilitate a deeper sense of healing and connection beyond talk therapy alone.

If you are a couple, we can work to establish healthier communication and connection with each other, while sorting through the ways that past traumas may affect your relationship. We'll work to nurture a thriving, solid relationship that supports the goals you have together.

It is possible to find the peace you are seeking within yourself and your relationships. I'm here to help you find it.
