Professional statement

Erica Thomas is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Liberty Hill, TX. Many of the people that Erica works with seek the empowerment they need to move comfortably forward in their lives despite the pressures of roles and expectations. The overarching goal for Erica is to help women find their voices and live their truth unapologetically.

Erica assists clients process past hurts in a non judgmental environment and helps them consider different perspectives while offering validation. She also helps clients work through their past traumas using various evidence-based therapy approaches, including through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). To further facilitate healing, she also teaches clients how to pay attention to their physical sensations, effectively manage their emotions, as well as how to practice effective self-compassion. Erica realizes her clients are the experts of themselves, so she empowers clients to set goals for themselves and actively work towards those goals each week to achieve personal growth.

Erica is also an expert in mother daughter relationships. She has additional training and certification in mother daughter coaching, which she uses to help mother-daughter pairs rebuild broken bonds and grow their relationships in healthy, lasting ways. Erica's approach to helping mothers and daughters begins with attachment theory. She helps clients understand how their early relationships impact the ways that they interact and connect with others, including as adults. She also teaches them how to connect and relate to each other through a lens of empathy and compassion.

Erica earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. She received her certificate in coaching from the Mother Daughter Coaching International and helps clients break out of negative relationship and behavioral patterns that limit their abilities to express themselves authentically.

Message to clients

When we struggle with our relationships, especially meaningful, impactful ones like a mother daughter relationship, it can feel hopeless. The instability and insecurity of that relationship can start to permeate other aspects of our lives, including our relationships with others and our overall wellness.

When we struggle with ourselves, our inner light doesn't shine as brightly. We don't feel like ourselves, we feel lost and disconnected from ourselves and our world. The very wise late Maya Angelou once said, "Every storm runs out of rain." As strong as your inner storm might feel to you right now, know that there's healing, restoration, and hope waiting for you that is even more powerful and life-changing.

Whether you're seeking mother daughter counseling or a female seeking individual therapy, be proud that you've made the first step towards healing and personal growth by seeking professional help. It takes an immense amount of courage, strength and maturity just to take this very first step! As your therapist, know that you'll be in the care of a professional who is compassionate, seasoned, invested and importantly, can empathize with your struggle--I've been there. I see you. I hear you. Yes, therapy is hard work and you need to be fully committed to your healing and growth, but it will be extremely worth it in the end.

I look forward to meeting you!
