Professional statement

Erin Finnerty is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an office in Brooklyn, New York, located close to Borough Hall. She especially enjoys working with those who are navigating major life transitions, and unpacking the emotional intricacies of anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, careers, and self-esteem issues. Having had specialized training in perinatal mental health, she also works with new moms to deepen the bond with their infant.

Erin uses an eclectic approach, drawing primarily from insight-oriented therapies. She also offers skills-based work when beneficial and highly values psychoeducation to ensure her clients holistically understand their thoughts and emotions.

In addition to traditional talk therapy, Erin is excited to offer walking therapy to help clients engage in a less conventional setting and generate fresh perspectives. New moms are welcome to bring babies on walking sessions, which are also a great option for working professionals looking to take a break from the sterility of indoor spaces and allow nature to aid in the healing process.

Message to clients

In my work, I've found that people are most open to exploration and change when they have a partner they trust in that process. I give my clients tools to look at their experiences and emotions in the spirit of inquiry, and move past fear and avoidance. When a client brings me their story, we work together to understand it, through trust, humor, creativity, and perseverance. I respect each client's strengths, and believe they can harness their own potential to live a more aware and satisfying life.
