Professional statement

Erin Hartley is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist based in Seattle who works virtually with clients across California, Washington, Oregon, and several other states. Erin has practiced for over a decade and received advanced training from the University of San Francisco's (UCSF) world-renowned university hospital and clinics.

Erin’s specialty is working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or self-doubt holding them back in crucial areas of their life. She is particularly sensitive to clients with childhood emotional trauma, complicated relationships with their parenting figures, and those in the middle of significant life transitions. Many of Erin's clients have worked in demanding professions (big tech, healthcare, or startups) and have experienced burnout or need support and guidance to live a satisfying and meaningful life outside of work. Erin also works with many college age students eager to better understand themselves in the context of their identify, relationships and as they define their future path.

Erin’s therapeutic approach draws from an electric range of science-supported therapies that combine mindfulness, acceptance, self-compassion, and a greater understanding of the intimate and unique connection between our thoughts, feelings, and desires. She believes real transformation occurs when we access and integrate information in the body and brings this holistic approach to her sessions.

In her sessions, Erin empowers her clients with tangible tools and skills to practice outside the session to feel greater confidence, self-mastery, and meaning. She’s committed to creating a safe and affirming environment to meet all her clients' unique and diverse needs and goals.

Message to clients

Whether new to therapy or looking to begin a new chapter, it’s crucial to feel safe with your therapist in a space that encourages curiosity and compassion.

I help clients experiencing unresolved depression, anxiety, perfectionism/over-functioning, work burnout, early attachment trauma, and low-self esteem. I encourage you to learn more about the possibility of working together if you are feeling stuck in any of these areas or are struggling with limiting beliefs that hold you back in key areas of your life -- your career, your relationships, or with yourself as you work to build healthier habits and self-confidence.

Connection, curiosity, and compassion are at the core of my therapeutic approach. I engage actively in each session with warmth, humor, and a non-judgmental stance. While I don’t shy away from being direct, more often than not, you’ll find me asking curious questions. Modeling how you can use curiosity to examine negative or outdated beliefs, look at the areas you want to change from a place of optimism versus shame or hopelessness, and get “unstuck” as you begin to take affirming action steps and build a deepening connection to yourself.

I believe real and lasting change happens in the moments of your life between sessions, so if you’re looking for new strategies and skills to help you feel better, less anxious, stressed, or more confident, you can ensure this will be central to our work.

Please reach out if you’d like to explore working together.
