Flora is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and specializes in offering trauma-informed and culturally sensitive therapy in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Flora was born in Brazil and grew up bi-culturally. This experience contributed to her passion in cultural curiosity and sensitivity as well as a commitment to social justice. Flora received a master’s in social work from the University of Denver with a concentration in Family Therapy as well as a certification in working with the Latino/x population in 2006. Her post-graduate training includes a Psychodynamic fellowship, solution focused training with the Latino/x population, and various trauma-informed interventions such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and level one Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Her work in the Greater Boston area has included, Individual and Family Therapy through mental health agencies and non-profit organizations in office, home, and other community settings. Flora has worked in Early Intervention services and providing classroom mental health consultation through public and private schools. Much of Flora's work has been focused on teen parenting and helping new parents through pregnancy, postpartum, and continued parenting. She is available to see new clients in person and via Telehealth in the state of Massachusetts.
