Gerina Davis
She/Her/Hers
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTShe/Her/Hers
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTGerina- Jade' Davis is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Christian Counselor. She welcomes individual adults and couples seeking transformation and a deeper meaning in their lives. Many of her clients are big thinkers and feelers, creatives, decision-makers, and visionaries who are stunted by unhealed wounds from the past that have created anxiety, self-worth, trust, and relationship issues.
Therapy sessions with Gerina are an integration of therapeutic models- mainly Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - she uses intuition and the belief that clients are the experts in their lives. She encourages her clients to explore the root of their present challenges using IFS by identifying and connecting with their different parts. The goal is to revisit painful memories that have shaped their identity and gain insight into how their parts influence their perspective and engagement with the world. They are encouraged to reconcile with their wounded part, form a strong sense of self, and, using CBT, understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected and make concrete steps to new possibilities.
Having served in various roles at non-profits, community organizations, churches, private practices, and schools, Gerina is skilled in working with those who have experienced complex trauma, structural racism, burnout, church hurt, and other social challenges. She brings a unique awareness to creating a space where the client can be their unedited self as they process frustration and anger and seek relief.
Gerina is committed to maintaining a practice of integrity and transparency. She is particularly sensitive to the creative process with a background in the arts. She welcomes a wide range of creative professionals, freelancers, entrepreneurs, executives, teachers, social justice workers, and Christians to her virtual practice servicing the state of New York.
