Dr. Gibbs Williams is a Licensed Psychoanalyst in Lower Manhattan with expertise in helping clients explore existential questions of identity and purpose. He enjoys working with individuals who may feel isolated, taking special care in helping them better understand their emotions and feel more connected to both their inner experiences and the people around them.

Dr. Williams also sees clients navigating anxiety disorders, affect intolerance, stress, couples counseling, student mental health, and elder issues. His style is highly supportive and individually tailored to the unique needs of each client. His approach is primarily insight-oriented, drawing from psychoanalytic therapy and family systems.

Dr. Williams is committed to empowering clients to identify their values, find meaning, and move past self-doubt to lead more fulfilling lives. He is keenly attuned to developing a trusting and collaborative relationship with each client. His practice is conveniently located by the City Hall subway station.

Message to clients

As a change agent I cannot myself change you. I do however provide a just-right atmosphere which is most conducive to changing yourself. If we click, you will learn how to take resonant concepts and gradually learn how to organize your own chaos.

Self-esteem - Cultivating self-compassion, assertiveness, and confidence; developing ways to reduce suffering, anxiety, social withdrawal, and self-neglect

College mental health - Navigating the transition into college and stressors of academics, personal relationships, and self-development

Elder issues - Helping seniors through issues may come up with aging and decreased ability to perform activities of daily living

Initial 45min session is complimentary.
