Professional statement

Dr. Gus Haracopos is a therapist in Larchmont, NY who specializes in working with adolescents and young adults, as well as their parents, on such concerns as anger and behavioral issues, insecurity, social isolation, relationship conflicts, and anxiety.

Many of Dr. Haracopos’ clients are teenagers who are grappling with a surge of emotions, but don’t necessarily have an outlet or ability to talk through them. Dr. Haracopos understands that this stage in life requires a blend of self-exploration and intention-setting, and he is deeply supportive of his clients as they learn and grow both inside the therapy room and outside of it. He uses evidenced-based approaches to help his young clients and their families create change and cope effectively with issues as they arise.

Dr. Haracopos has over 30 years of experience in the field, and in addition to his private practice, he has also served as a counselor at independent schools including the Chase Collegiate School and the Spence School.

Message to clients

As a teenager, you face many challenges as you work to understand yourself and your world. Learning about your strengths and weaknesses, building trust and comfort in relationships, finding purpose in pursuing your goals, and envisioning your future all require deep engagement, thoughtful reflection, and the courage to take risks. I hope you will find someone who can support your hard work, and help focus on your strengths even when the going gets tough.
