Hannah Tishman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in New York, NY, offering telehealth sessions to clients in NY, NJ, and FL. Hannah enjoys working with adults and young adults who experience distress related to past trauma as well as a dysregulated nervous system. Many of Hannah’s clients begin therapy while going through major life transitions, as their emotional reactions begin to feel overwhelming. Hannah also works closely with other therapists who experience compassion fatigue and/or trauma related to their personal lives.
Hannah specializes in attachment-based Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. EMDR therapy is proven to help reduce distress around past traumatic memories. By taking an attachment-based approach to EMDR, clients begin to cope better with internal and interpersonal conflict, reducing fear of abandonment or rejection. Clients who work with client often feel an increase in self-compassion, self-esteem, and an overall stronger sense of self. Hannah also incorporates somatic therapy approaches like Somatic Parts Work, Internal Family Systems, and mindfulness practices into her work with clients to integrate the mind and body as one.
Hannah earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University. She believes in the power of unconditional positive regard, and strives to make every client feel safe, appreciated, and understood in their sessions together. Her style is warm, kind, and relatable. Hannah believes in a strong therapeutic relationship as an indicator of progress in therapy.
