Heather Dickinson is an LCSW in New Canaan. She works with individuals, couples and families. Many of Heather’s clients come in to address issues in relationships, emotional concerns like managing stress and anxiety and family issues. Heather is particularly passionate about serving couples.
Heather has advanced training in couples and family therapy from the Ackerman Institute for the Family. Her approach focuses on helping clients identify problematic patterns in relationships. In session, Heather focuses on helping clients identify old patterns of behavior or relating that may no longer be serving them and help build new ways of connecting. This approach supports clients to gain new understanding and learn new strategies for managing difficult feelings and dynamics.
Heather's style is collaborative, warm and goal-oriented. When clients first start therapy, she will establish a strong connection and identify goals together.
Heather received their MSW from Columbia University and completed post-graduate training from the Ackerman Institute for the Family. Heather has also completed the Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Heather offers both in-person and remote therapy sessions.
