Professional statement

Henny Stern is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who offers therapy both in-person and remotely in Cambridge and Boston, MA. She specializes in trauma recovery, the mind-body connection, and has a particular expertise in working with clients who have experienced domestic violence or abuse.

Henny has training in Somatic Therapy, which involves helping clients become more attuned to their bodies and how it affects their mental health and emotions. Her approach is holistic and integrative and is guided by a trauma-informed approach. She helps her clients slow down and become more aware of what triggers their symptoms. She also uses the client-therapist relationship to inform her on the best treatment plan.

Henny believes that all trauma can be reversible if tapped into the right therapy and tools. She ultimately wants to empower her clients to learn how to listen to their body and develop a set of healthy coping strategies.

Message to clients

Most of us inhabiting this planet go through periods in our lives where we feel overwhelmed by our circumstances, relationships, emotions, life transitions, career, etc. You are not alone and there is nothing wrong with you. This is a part of life, living, and being truly alive! When we can feel pain, we know our nerves are working...for us. And perhaps steering us in a new direction. As a trauma informed psychotherapist, I practice therapy with a mind-body/bottom-up approach, with the understanding that our body has an infinite amount of wisdom to guide us in healing our body mind and soul. When we learn how to slow down our body to access our innate wisdom, we then have an opportunity to heal the past, enjoy the present, and feel confident about the future. Integrating both art and science, I work together with my clients to reach their goals in ways that feel joyous, supportive, and comforting.
I also offer Clinical Social Work Supervision that is designed to enhance your clinical and professional skills, knowledge, and attitudes in order to achieve competency in your Social Work identity and in providing quality clinical care.
