Professional statement

Isabella is a therapist in private practice, licensed in NY and in MD. She has experience in working with women and men recovering from childhood trauma, family conflicts, needing help during particular periods of their lives, such as lifestyle changes, the birth of a child, parenting, separation, divorce as well as needing help in recovering from depression, paralyzing anxiety, self doubt, low self esteem, creative blocks, feeling of loss of purpose in life. She sees couples struggling to reconnect to each other, or whose relationships have been seriously affected by betrayal, affairs and losses.

Isabella works collaboratively with her patients on maintaining a safe, warm, confidential, open space for people to feel as free as possible to express themselves. Isabella's training in dance/movement therapy and mindfulness practices inform a deeper understanding of how the body, mind and life energy work to facilitate or hinder the person’s growth potential. And she uses this to help her patients reconnect and realign themselves to an authentic self and to a more fulfilling life, to regain joy and energy.

Isabella’s extensive studies, experience and research in working with individuals and couples continue to contribute to her understanding of how the human mind and body work as well as what gets in the way of improved quality of relationships. She helps people connect more deeply to themselves and facilitates couples’ ability to better communicate with each other. She has experience working with groups that address codependency, family issues, addiction, eating disorders and body image.

At present all sessions are online. The first consultation is on the phone.

Message to clients

The first step to call a therapist and start a dialogue about yourself can feel both exciting and anxiety provoking. Yet the hope is that together we can establish a working relationship that will help you feel less anxious and more at ease with yourself. I will ask you questions, and you also can ask me questions; you lead the way, and I, by your side, listen to what you are saying, what you may be afraid of saying or not ready to disclose. You are in control. I may nudge you along the way and ask you to shift your perspective, to consider a new idea, a new thought, and most importantly you will begin to have new ideas, new thoughts, new insights, feelings you may recognize or not. Therapy is a process of getting to know what your real concerns are, in a space where you will feel freer and freer to say what's on your mind. In couples sessions we will make the space for both of you to explore your concerns, to recognize patterns of communication that no longer work for you, to help you explore choices you may never have thought you had.
