Professional statement

Jade Johnson is a psychotherapist based in Brooklyn, NY. She is particularly passionate about serving clients who feel frustrated, stuck, and disempowered in their lives. People come to her to find the pathway to their goals, even if they aren’t sure what’s getting in their way.

In her practice, Jade primarily utilizes an eclectic style of therapy that's based in Rogerian principles. Eclectic style therapy means that Jade will pull from knowledge of various therapeutic philosophies and schools of thought — including psychodynamic theory, queer theory, feminist therapy, CBT, relational skills, and mindfulness — to create a blended approach that is customized to your needs. "Rogerian principles" just means that your therapist respects your wisdom, and sees you as the best expert on your experiences.

Jade's style is warm, engaging, and non-judgmental. She starts off every new client relationship by building an open, trusting, and therapeutic dynamic. This enables you to work as a team to identify and change what's getting in the way of your optimal wellbeing. Jade has clinical proficiency in managing many different diagnoses and issues, but she is particularly experienced in helping clients handle mood and anxiety disorders, adjustment and transition issues, and relationship problems.

Jade received her Masters in Psychological Counseling from Teachers College at Columbia University and has been practicing for over 7 years.

Message to clients

Hi, I’m glad you’re here! I think you’ll find that my therapy practice is a welcoming and productive space where you can be truly heard. We'll delve into your habits, thought processes, and interpersonal relationships to find and change the things that aren’t working, and to identify and strengthen the things that do make you happy.

Much of our stress comes from tensions related to cultural differences with those around us. I specialize in helping people navigate those dynamics and celebrate their various identities, including people of color and LGBTQ+ folks. I look forward to affirming who you are and helping you show up as your full self every day.

I'm available for remote sessions, primarily during the late afternoon and evening hours. Please see my schedule or reach out for logistics and specifics. As you’re searching for the right fit, feel free to contact me for a free phone consultation so we can get a sense of whether our styles align.
