Professional statement

James is a Licensed Master Social Worker and graduate of Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service.

His treatment style is collaborative and eclectic; he tailors his therapeutic approach to each client’s individual needs. James enjoys working with a diverse practice; he currently works with LGBTQ and straight African-American, East Asian, South Asian, Latin-American and white clients. He has experience working with clients presenting with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, as well as with survivors of sexual abuse, abandonment, and other forms of childhood and adult trauma.

James has worked to secure housing for marginalized New Yorkers who are HIV-positive and has worked with vulnerable clients diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness.

Message to clients

Do you struggle to find ways to cope with issues of perfectionism, self-esteem or self-criticism? Are you struggling to navigate relationships, whether it be with a partner, family member, or a boss, where nothing you do ever seems to be good enough or your feelings don’t seem to matter? Do you sometimes find that you question your own thoughts and feelings? Do you feel that your past has way too much of a hold over your present?

We will work to identify patterns in your life that you might not have noticed but may have a big impact on how your life unfolds. We will take apart the stories of your life to make sure that you are writing your story instead of your story writing you. You can find the stability and peace of mind you may have thought you lost.

As a NYS Licensed therapist, I work with clients from all backgrounds and ethnicities, including POC, LGBTQ, and AAPI. I will always tell you the truth but always with compassion and respect. Working together we can help you feel better about yourself, feel comfortable in your own skin, and truly feel worthy of who you really are
