Professional statement

Dr. James Roehrig is a licensed counseling psychologist dedicated to supporting individuals striving to live more authentic, balanced, and fulfilling lives. Working with adults navigating challenges such as perfectionism, social anxiety, phobias, OCD, ADHD, relationship issues, and eating disorders, James creates a warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative therapeutic space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued.

With specialized experience working with professionals in the tech industry, including serving as an on-site psychologist at Meta, Dr. Roehrig understands the unique pressures and complexities of fast-paced, high-demand environments. He is particularly attuned to the ways these challenges intersect with personal and professional growth, offering tailored support to help clients thrive.

Many of Dr. Roehrig’s clients are high-achieving individuals who feel stuck in cycles of self-doubt, overthinking, procrastination, or emotional disconnection despite their accomplishments. By integrating evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dr. Roehrig tailors each session to meet the unique needs and goals of his clients. His active and solution-oriented style focuses on building insight, developing coping skills, and cultivating a sense of empowerment.

With a sensitivity to how past experiences shape present struggles, Dr. Roehrig helps clients explore underlying core beliefs and patterns that contribute to their challenges while also identifying practical strategies to foster growth and offering accountability. Clients are encouraged to embrace self-compassion, find clarity in their values, and make meaningful changes that align with their aspirations.

Dr. Roehrig is particularly skilled at supporting individuals during moments of transition, helping them navigate feelings of stress, anxiety, or disconnection with care and curiosity. Whether working on enhancing relationships, overcoming fears, or addressing perfectionism, Dr. Roehrig remains a steady guide, offering a blend of warmth, structure, and actionable solutions.

Message to clients

Welcome! Starting therapy can feel like a big step and my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and empowered to take meaningful steps toward the life you want. I believe therapy is most effective when it’s an active partnership, so we’ll work together to create a detailed understanding of your challenges, goals, and strengths. I’ll encourage you to set the agenda for our sessions, ensuring we’re always focused on what feels most important to you. Along the way, I’ll offer practical tools, recommend resources like readings or exercises to deepen our work, and provide gentle accountability to support you in building new habits and practicing what we discuss.

Many of my clients appreciate that I take an engaged, solution-oriented approach. If you’ve worked with therapists in the past who primarily listened but offered little feedback, you may find my style refreshing. While I provide plenty of space for you to share and reflect, I also actively contribute by offering insights, asking challenging questions, and helping you develop and refine skills that align with your goals. I welcome your feedback throughout the process, and we’ll adapt our approach as needed to ensure our work together feels productive and meaningful.

I’m also committed to supporting you in a holistic way, coordinating care with other providers like psychiatrists or nutritionists as needed. Whether you're navigating anxiety, perfectionism, relationship challenges, or life transitions, I’m here to support you with warmth, structure, and evidence-based strategies.
