Professional statement

Dr. Walton’s methods focus on developing highly functional relationships through enhancing communication and interpersonal skills. His work focuses on enhancing the quality of life by treating you as a whole capable person with special needs. Early intervention can prevent problems from developing into more serious, long-term situations. Together you will explore the internal patterns and external behaviors that affect your life while developing communication skills and personal insights that will improve your personal and professional relationships. Being heard and understood clearly leads to greater connection and intimacy with others while removing the blocks to get what you want out of life.

As a Licensed Family Therapist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, he has borrowed from both fields to achieve an effective and dynamic program for helping people improve their communication, resolve problems, and realize greater personal growth in their lives.

Experience has shown that when people are given insight into their challenges and are then given the tools to deal with them, it has a synergistic effect that can assist them in achieving their goals more quickly and effectively.

His clients are given tools they can use in their daily lives to experience greater clarity, direction and satisfaction.

He believes that it’s the role of the therapist to be actively involved in the therapy room. He listens and reflects, but he also contributes insightful feedback, informative handouts, personality testing, homework, and behavior techniques to try at home along with direct responses to any questions you have. He is fully present with you in the therapy room.

He treats you as a whole and capable person with individual needs. He places importance on people above theories. Having a strong, trusting and supportive relationship in the therapy room means that you are both real people working together to help you find the answers that you’re seeking. Together, you’ll explore the creative use of your drives, enhance intimacy, explore your dreams and remove the blocks to get what you want out of life.

Message to clients

This is a great first step into getting what you want out of life.  It is so important to feel you have found someone with whom you can speak openly and freely. During our free initial consultation, I’ll answer any questions you have about therapy and explore what methods might be appropriate for you given your situation. The most important part of therapy is recognizing that you are on the right track to making progress towards your goals.

We’ll go over your goals and desires and how to evaluate reaching them. In the process, you’ll experience my style as a therapist and my commitment to helping you reach your personal therapy goals.

Difficulties do not have to hold us back. I work with my clients to transform their setbacks into constructive, empowering, life enhancing experiences. I provide therapy for creating permanent change in the way a person handles challenges and help them to find solutions for reaching their goals.
