Professional statement

Janéa Swander, MA, LCSW is a Mental Health Trauma Therapist, Quantum Alchemy Practitioner (regression process), and Reiki energy healer located in Williamsburg, Virginia. Through the power of technology, Ms. Swander focuses on offering remote sessions to adult clients throughout Virginia for mental health therapy needs and offers Quantum Alchemy and Reiki energy healing services worldwide (English speaking clientele).

Ms. Swander’s background in therapy specializes in trauma treatment using evidence-based therapies. Her trauma training was fostered within the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) system while serving combat veterans, veterans who experienced military sexual trauma, and newly returning veterans from Operations Iraqi Freedom/Enduring Freedom/New Dawn in an outpatient PTSD clinic. She served as a trainer for Cognitive Processing Therapy while still working within the VAMC.

Ms. Swander has also had the honor of working with clients and providers in the community through providing Mental Health Skill Building and Intensive In-Home services. She worked as an independent contractor in private practice before deciding to branch out on her own. Additionally, she has worked as an adjunct professor at the college level in the field of psychology and has worked in a hospital setting providing inpatient social work services on an acute inpatient psychiatric unit.

In addition to modern mental health therapy practices, Ms. Swander offers complementary healing methods such as: Reiki, regression processes, etc. She believes in always being a student and continues to invest in developing her skills as a therapist.

Message to clients

You feel broken, anxious, and stuck. You feel haunted by your past and don’t feel you will ever get relief. Your mind never shuts off and your thoughts tell you that you are invisible, worthless, unlovable, and not good enough. You long for understanding, connection, and belonging but don’t feel that you deserve it. You fear people will judge you if they really get to know to know you. All you want is to feel peace inside and be able to live again.

If this sounds like you, I’m here to help!

I work with adults, who are stuck in past traumas and are tired of using their energy to maintain control, avoid triggers, and numb out from painful emotions and beliefs. The clients I work with are ready for guidance and tools to begin taking back their lives.

I help you recover from trauma by using Cognitive Processing Therapy, which teaches you tangible tools you can use for the rest of your life to challenge beliefs that are holding you back from living the life you want. Avoidance is the barrier between you and recovering from trauma. Together, we confront avoidance by meeting for weekly sessions, which gives you the consistency and momentum needed to feel relief and begin living.

Free phone consultations can be scheduled with me upon request. Please use the email contact form above. Thank you!
