Janéa Swander, MA, LCSW is a mental health therapist, inner peace facilitator, and Reiki energy healer located in Williamsburg, Virginia. Through the power of technology, Ms. Swander focuses on offering remote sessions to adult clients throughout Virginia for mental health therapy needs and offers coaching and energy healing services worldwide (English speaking clientele).
Ms. Swander’s background in therapy specializes in trauma treatment using evidence-based therapies. Her trauma training was fostered within the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) system while serving combat veterans, veterans who experienced military sexual trauma, and newly returning veterans from Operations Iraqi Freedom/Enduring Freedom/New Dawn in an outpatient PTSD clinic. She served as a trainer for Cognitive Processing Therapy while still working within the VAMC.
Ms. Swander has also had the honor of working with clients and providers in the community through providing Mental Health Skill Building and Intensive In-Home services. She worked as an independent contractor in private practice before deciding to branch out on her own. Additionally, she has worked as an adjunct professor at the college level in the field of psychology and has worked in a hospital setting providing inpatient social work services on an acute inpatient psychiatric unit.
In addition to modern mental health therapy practices, Ms. Swander offers complementary healing methods such as: Reiki, sound healing, regression processes, etc. She believes in always being a student and continues to invest in developing her skills as a therapist and coach.
