Jañelle’s therapeutic stance is one of low-expert power, so she allows clients to describe the context of their experiences, without judging what is proper or improper functioning. She believes that the therapeutic process should be a collaborative effort: the client is the expert on their own lived experience, and she likes to work in tandem with the client to provide opportunities for growth and transformance. To achieve this, she aims not only to foster an environment of warmth, safety, and trust, but to provide tools and information that are comprehensive and digestible.
Jañelle wants to make space in her practice for creatives/entertainers, especially, who often sacrifice so much of their mental, emotional, and psychological wellbeing to create art and provide entertainment for others. But when so much of your work depends on your ability to effectively feel into your body and emotions, creatives and entertainers may find themselves feeling like a painter working with frayed brushes.
This strengths-based therapist makes use of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients locate felt emotions in the body, communicate with different parts of the self, and revisit significant experiences from the past. Jañelle has spent her career working in outpatient therapeutic services, treating clients presenting with concerns ranging from anxiety and depression, to trauma and sexual intimacy. She is currently available for sessions remotely, and she is looking forward to helping you achieve transformance!
