Professional statement

Jaya (she/hers), LCSW, is a Liberation and Decolonizing based therapist who uses an integrative approach. Her deep understanding of oppression and white supremacy culture on impacting well-being, and extensive background in psychophysiology (psychobiology, neuroscience, nutrition and more) create a unique, socially conscious and whole person informed experience for deep healing.

Jaya works with a diverse range of clients, with a specialty focus on BIPOC, mixed-race, LQBTQIA2S+, and differently abled folks (neurodivergent, chronically ill or in pain). Most of her clients are individuals who are 16 years or older who are looking to have a compassionate and engaged provider to build better understanding what they are dealing with and ways to encourage transformative healing. Because harm impacts the entire being, Jaya relies on approaches that are holistic and flexible to address healing from a mind, body, and heart perspective such as Decolonized Interpersonal Neurobiology, Somatic Psychotherapy, Buddhist Psychology, and Liberation Psychology.

For relationship therapy, Jaya supports BIPOC, interracial, multicultural, and queer relationships where people feel stuck in a stressful pattern, feelings of being mis-understood, or wanting to deepen understanding of each other’s social identities to explore how equity and Decolonizing frameworks can strengthen the relationship.

Jaya holds an M.A. in Cognitive Psychology, M.S.W. in Social Work and extensive experience and training in Decolonized Interpersonal Neurobiology, Somatic Psychotherapy, and Domestic Violence.

Message to clients

I am so glad you are here and open to gaining support in your healing journey. Your relationship with your therapist is the primary factor in healing, so trust your gut when meeting new therapists! I view my clients as part of my community as a way to build a genuine relationship. It’s important to me that you know you are not alone in this process. You might have experienced substantial harm, trauma, and feelings of not being seen. I am here as a collaborator to honor your wisdom and experiences, as a vessel to carry the difficult emotions, and as a guide using my own experiences, wisdom, and knowledge to find your unique pathway for healing.

For every client, the process for healing is different. The key ingredients that I often see as helpful along the way are: developing a sincere connection, understanding your journey, and exploring how your nervous system is shaped by lived experiences. Collectively we can apply what we learn to find healing through stories, integrating new information, and reshaping the nervous system through safe relationships and somatic work (mindfulness, breathwork, imagery and more). It’s not a linear process and can sometimes be an uncomfortable one, but I am committed to being alongside you every step of the way.
