Dr. Jayne Smith Dias (she/her) is the Executive Director and original founder of Mental Health Connect. She started in the mental health field in 1998 as a volunteer crisis counselor for a teen suicide prevention hotline. Jayne continues to develop skills in working with emerging adults throughout California in support of identity-based trauma healing, life transition challenges, chronic and acute stress, anxiety, and career development. She specializes in supporting clients between the ages of 18 and 35 to build confidence in their authentic selves, engage in self-discovery and cultivate self-compassion.
Jayne’s approach Internal Family Systems, trauma-informed somatic techniques, mindfulness, multicultural competencies, social justice and advocacy, neuroscience, and gender-affirming care. Her conceptualization of personal learning and growth is rooted in a deep understanding of the ways in which individuals, communities and systems impact mental health and wellness. She invites clients to build trust in her overtime, experiment with healing techniques, and deepen their connection to Self.
Jayne completed Level 1 Internal Family Systems training in 2024. She earned a master’s degree in counseling in 2005 and PhD in counselor education and supervision in 2013. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC #202501, 2010), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (CA #495, 2013), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS #4610, 2023). A few recent trainings include Culturally Responsive Clinical Supervision (Dr. Sonja Sutherland, PESI, 2025), Calming the Overactive Brain (Institute for Brain Potential, 2024), Nutrition for Mental Health Disorders: Non-Pharmaceutical Treatment Strategies (Dr. Kristen Allott, PESI, 2023), and Transgender and Non-Binary Youth: Gender-Affirming Interventions (Susan Radzilowski, PESI, 2022).
Jayne is grateful to Drs. Richard C.
