Professional statement

Jean-Marie Schweizer is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor located in Fort Worth, TX, and licensed in Nevada, Oregon, and Texas. He works with young adults and adults who experience overwhelm at the hand of their anxiety, depression, or trauma backgrounds. Often, these individuals feel stressed out to the point of not being able to focus at school or at work. This level of stress also intertwines with feelings of guilt, shame, loneliness, and burnout.

Jean-Marie's approach begins with helping clients to recognize their own strengths, emphasizing how they’ve been resilient in the past and have overcome previous challenges. Clients develop coping skills that they can use when their stress is especially heightened, developing a more positive outlook on life. Jean-Marie also teaches clients mindfulness so they can take a holistic approach to healing and finding balance. He often uses Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to process trauma and conflict non-invasively via bilateral stimulation and voluntary image rescripting to bypass clients’ cognitive and emotional hurdles that may have blocked their natural tendency to regain equanimity. Clients also engage with Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, bringing together the many different parts of themselves to gain a better understanding of what happens internally for them.

Jean-Marie is an ordained minister and welcomes conversations about spirituality and religion’s impact on mental health. He enjoys working with people going through major life transitions or confronting social pressures. Using a non-directive style, Jean-Marie empowers clients to lead their own sessions as they work through their challenges.

Message to clients

I believe we all intuitively know how to get better and that my role as a counselor is to help you find the strength within you to make it happen. As such, while I may have the professional training and skills to help you, you essentially are the expert in our relationship. I will follow you along your path of recovery toward your wellbeing as I may point out points of interest and sometimes concerns along the way.

I recognize that committing to therapy is a courageous step that should not be underestimated. I applaud you for even considering in the first place. I promise you that I will do my best to help you find and rediscover whatever you need to regain your independence so that you eventually may graduate from needing professional mental health to return to your equilibrium. Everything you need is within you. Let us discover what that is together.

Whether you choose me or any other therapist, trust your intuition and inner guidance as to what you need at this point in time. You deserve the best care you can possibly get.
