She specializes in helping those with anxiety/panic, unresolved trauma and substance abuse issues and also offers professional supervision for LPC licensure.

Jennifer takes an eclectic approach to counseling, combining different techniques and schools of thought to provide a personalized therapeutic journey. She collaborates with clients about treatment goals and overall approach to find the best fit. Regardless of what direction one chooses, early work is foundational, focusing on establishing the therapeutic relationship and strengthening or building coping skills. Her therapeutic base is most influenced by cognitive behavioral therapy, with which she helps clients understand the connection and influence between unhelpful thinking patterns, emotions, and behavior. Other approaches include mindfulness, interpersonal and communication skill building, exposure therapies, EMDR, solution-focused and motivational interviewing.

Jennifer Brey is a master's level, professional counselor, licensed in Pennsylvania. Jennifer has worked in a variety of treatment settings including inpatient with the dually diagnosed, intensive outpatient for substance abuse and outpatient mental health with trauma specific services. While Jennifer currently only works with adults, she has experience working with survivors of physical, emotional and sexual abuse throughout the lifespan. She has EMDR training and is certified in Prolonged Exposure Therapy.

Jennifer's office is located in center city Philadelphia, and while parking can be challenging is conveniently accessible with public transit. She also offers virtual appointments to all PA residents via Doxy.me, and limited in-person sessions to Philadelphia area residents.

Developing a strong therapeutic relationship is an important foundation for the work we can do. I believe in using evidence-based practices, but am flexible about how and when they are appropriate.
