Professional statement

With over 25 years of experience in the mental health field, Jennifer brings a winding journey of knowledge to her practice having worked in inpatient mental health, residential, school and outpatient clinical settings and substance abuse programs. She often works well with clients who have not been satisfied with standard or traditional talk therapy.

Her therapy approach is holistic, integrative and tailored to the individual. She looks at the whole person, not through a lens of pathology but from a place of being in their environment and how the body, mind and spirit are involved in one's life trajectory. From this perspective, Jennifer works with people to identify and enhance their strengths as a foundational tool to address life's problems in day-to-day life. This can include looking at daily habits (diet, exercise, self care), lifestyle, thought patterns, stress management, spiritual wellness, etc. Jennifer has a psychodynamic orientation, and draws from attachment-oriented and trauma-informed perspectives that apply broadly.

Fully trained in Somatic Experiencing, and as a body-based trauma therapist she helps clients access sensation in the body as way to process past events without the necessity of classic talk therapy, in a way that helps to restore the nervous system from fight/flight/freeze responses. This therapy is also utilized with clients without trauma history. Jennifer incorporates mindfulness approaches as well as conventional modalities.

Please note this therapy is for private pay clients and while super bills can be provided, it is a good idea for you to determine if your insurance covers out of network providers, and to what extent.

Message to clients

Every person has the strength and healing wisdom inside them to deal with life's greatest struggles. My job is to help you reconnect to those strengths and reinforce them so that you live your life in a way that is true to you. I view people not through a lens of pathology, but one of strength and optimism.

Therapy is not magic, but sometimes it can feel that way. What is important is the therapeutic match--it is a large predictor of therapeutic success. It is the safety and trust that allows for opening and insight. I encourage all potential clients to explore, shop around, really trust their own inner sense of what feels like a good place to land.

Please reach out to set up a free 15 minute consultation with me directly to discuss working together, or if you have any questions or are curious. Please note I do not accept insurance at this time, but can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement, if applicable.
