Professional statement

Jen Lachance-Poirrier is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Art Therapist with a private practice in Berwyn, PA, and licenses in New York and Connecticut to see clients remotely. She welcomes adolescents and adults of all ages who are seeking to learn about themselves and create change. Many of Jen’s clients come in to address anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss. In the therapy space, Jen will support clients as they peel back the layers and learn to meet their mental, physical, and emotional needs.

Therapy sessions with Jen integrate insight-oriented and skills-based approaches, emphasizing the mind-body connection. She will gently challenge clients to explore the root causes of their behaviors, allowing space for growth through an increased awareness of their internal and external worlds. Jen is a Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist, which uses eye movements to help mitigate the symptoms of trauma. Jen is also a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC), which means she often uses creative outlets to further help her clients learn about themselves and create change.

Jen's style is warm, engaging, and non-judgmental. When clients first start therapy, she will work to understand the client's history and internal world and create goals together.

Prior to working in private practice, Jen worked for the hospice division of a major hospital system in Eastern Pennsylvania, helping children and their families navigate their grief. She was also in the business world for many years in a prior life, which she believes allows further layers of perspective and openness to some of the nuances her clients report.
