Professional statement

Jennifer Nunez is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in New York, NY. Jennifer works with young adults and adults, including couples and families who want to build a healthier lifestyle that offers greater meaning in their everyday routines. Many of Jennifer’s clients find it challenging to feel whole and connected to others in the modern world which can lead to feelings of loneliness and detachment. Often, Jennifer’s clients feel overwhelmed by anxiety or held back by depression, which can negatively impact their relationships and their ability to connect with others in fulfilling, healthy ways.

Jennifer begins each session by creating a space that feels welcoming for clients and encourages them to talk freely about what’s happening in their lives. Her approach to therapy centers around Internal Family Systems therapy. She encourages clients to explore the many different parts of themselves and see how those parts relate to one another. Her goal is to teach clients how to integrate the different parts of their lives for greater balance and emotional peace. She also practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and family therapy, giving clients the skills they need to cope with difficult feelings and to improve their relationships with others.

Jennifer earned a Master’s degree from Iona University. She believes in the power of wholeness and healing, and that provides clients with the support they need to overcome obstacles in their lives. She is an affirming, empathetic therapist who believes that each person is in control of their own narrative.

Message to clients

Therapy can be intimidating at first especially for those that have never tried it before, but I want to commend you for taking the first step to look around for a therapist that best fit your needs you are on the right path! I often use family systems in my practice . In your first session we'll explore what brought you to therapy then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With family systems I look at your family background and how it connects with your character. We'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience, and will help you learn how to navigate thorough it all. While expressing emotions and feelings I invite you to bring your authentic self to the session as I will create the safe space you need to do that, being authentic and free is the very best way to start!
