Professional statement

Jennifer is a a Licensed Professional Counselor residing and licensed in Colorado, with 20 years experience working as a counselor in the US, U.K, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Japan. Jennifer obtained her Master’s in Counseling with High Honors from Regis University in Denver, Colorado and she currently is licensed in Colorado where she sees adults virtually and in-person.

Her approach is client-centered, meaning that she believes every person has their own internal source of wisdom, healing, and strength to draw upon. From this perspective, the role of the therapist is to provide a safe space for you to grow in the way that feels right to you, rather than the therapist controlling your course of therapy, telling you how to feel, or telling you what to do. You are the captain of your own vessel flowing through your journey of life, and most importantly, you know yourself best! Jennifer's goal is to support you as you grow.

Her orientation is holistic and integrative, with a primary emphasis on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed therapy. Additionally, for clients who are interested, Jennifer offers clients the opportunity to utilize the depth psychology tools of oracle and tarot cards and astrology. Her therapeutic focus with tarot, oracle and astrology is not directive or divinatory, but rather to be worked with as contemplative tools for reflection, expansion, healing, and growth. She also incorporates nature therapy and somatic/body-centered therapy principles, such as body movement, breathwork, mindfulness, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) tapping, qi gong, and polyvagal theory.

Message to clients

"Luminous beings are we." -Yoda

Sometimes even the strongest and wisest people among us need help to work through life’s challenges. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, or any other issue, there is help available. You are not alone! We can work together in helping you create a more fulfilling present life.

I'd like to extend a warm welcome to you! I'm Jennifer Walter, Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Medano Counseling Center, located in CO.

SonderMind is a video and in-person therapy referral service which I use for video sessions and billing. (I accept most insurance plans.) On SonderMind you create a profile and request me as your therapist; then you can directly schedule an appointment with me by going into your SonderMind portal to my calendar. If you don't see an open slot in my schedule, please message me and I'll try my best to work you in within a week.

Please note: My office location is in Alamosa, CO, which may be too far for you to receive in-person sessions. If you are willing to try virtual counseling, I would love an opportunity to work with you.
