Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWJessica Cahn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Los Angeles, CA. Jessica works with young adults and adults who look to therapy as a way to heal from trauma and other mental health challenges. Many of Jessica’s clients struggle with alcohol or substance abuse, which can strain their professional lives and their relationships. Other clients feel disconnected from their emotions, becoming at times overwhelmed with how they’re feeling and at other times numb, particularly in situations of crisis. They often feel afraid that their loved ones will leave them, yet find it difficult to express their needs.
Jessica draws from various therapy approaches to help her clients find emotional balance. She creates a space where clients feel comfortable talking about what’s on their minds, being vulnerable and reflecting on which emotions feel most salient in that moment. Jessica encourages clients to talk about their feelings and how they impact their daily lives, and also explore where those feelings may come. Clients also learn more about their patterns in relationships, using this new knowledge to further deepen their relationships and strengthen their support systems. This can help them develop coping skills to use when they begin to feel overwhelmed with their emotions.
Jessica earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from California State University, Northridge. She has five years of experience as a therapist and has previously worked in Head Start programs with children, adolescents, and families. She also has experience working with formerly incarcerated individuals, helping them with their mental health as they adjust back into their lives.
