Professional statement

Jessica Wagner started her private practice, Compassionate Heart Therapy, in 2020 and has worked with clients to understand themselves, boost their confidence, and explore more productive coping skills. She primarily works with adults in their 20s and 30s who are feeling lost, confused, and overwhelmed by everything going on in their life.

We all have coping skills but some of them are only effective on the smaller, mundane stuff and actually start to make things worse when you try to use them on the bigger things. Avoidance and procrastination are great examples of this phenomenon because they help to relieve stress in the short-term but actually increase your anxiety in the long-term.

Mrs. Wagner strives to help her clients recognize these problematic behaviors and brainstorm more effective solutions with them. Each session she will help determine one small, realistic goal that the client can try before their next session.

She provides relational therapy with the mentality that both the therapist and the client are humans who make mistakes and will be working together to make meaningful changes in the client's life.

Compassionate Heart Therapy offers both in-person and virtual therapy sessions depending on your preference. Jessica regularly answers emails at all times of the day and night to answer any questions or inquiries, so feel free to reach out if you're curious about anything. She also offers free 30-minute consultations so you can meet with her first to see if she would be a good fit.

Message to clients

Hello! I know how daunting it is to try a therapist these days, so I commend you for taking the time and effort to look through all of these profiles.

As a relational therapist, I know how important it is to find someone who not only checks off all of your core requirements (price range, location, no waitlist, etc.) but is also someone that you can actually connect with and feel comfortable talking to about all of your complicated feelings and traumatic experiences.

So let me tell you a little bit about myself since I don't typically share too much in sessions because I believe that therapy is for you to air out everything on your mind, not for me to share my life story with you.

I love reading and I'm one of those weird people that have multiple stacks of books that I'm all reading right now. I love so many different genres and types of books so I have a hard time sticking to only one book until it's finished. When I'm not reading, I also love to take my dog on a walk, listen to music/podcasts, and play board/card games.
