Professional statement

Dr. Jessica Watrous is a Licensed Clinical Health Psychologist. Her private practice, Intention Health Psychology, is located in San Diego, CA and she offers telehealth services to individuals in the state of California. Dr. Watrous works with adults who are changing behaviors in order to live their most vibrant lives. Many of her clients have found her when a specific health behavior, like alcohol use or poor sleep, has negatively impacted their abilities to be the person they want to be.

The foundation of Dr. Watrous' approach is client-centered, evidence-based treatments that focus on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, the incorporation of mindfulness, and values-based living. She is particularly focused on the intersection between physical and mental health and offers a holistic approach to overall well-being.

Dr. Watrous' primary goal is to create a compassionate, non-judgmental space in which clients can do the work of therapy. She believes therapy is a collaborative and active process through which clients can achieve the goals they set for themselves. Dr. Watrous strives to practice with cultural humility and acknowledges the role that lived experiences play in our mental health.

Message to clients

I like to think of therapy as one of many tools that we can use to take care of ourselves. Many of my clients have found me because they were looking for someone that could help them change behaviors that no longer served them. In the process of our work together, my clients are often successful in changing those behaviors and creating a broader plan for how they can live their best lives.

I understand that stepping into a new therapist's office can feel vulnerable, and I strive to create a strong collaboration in which you feel safe to open up and do the work. I like to believe that I bring to the table an expertise in psychological healthcare and you bring an expertise in your life. When we work together we can create a plan that allows you to meet your goals on your timeline in a supportive and compassionate environment.
