She specializes in helping individuals who experience anxiety, depression, and relationship conflicts. Her clients turn to her for help when they begin to feel overwhelmed, especially by their emotions and clients find they are not living life in line with their values. As a BIPOC identified clinician, she is passionate about helping clients who belong to minority identity groups and supporting them through challenges that go with being a person of color, part of the LGBTQ+ community, and other marginalized groups/identities.
Dr. Weis’ approach to working with clients is collaborative and trauma-informed, which aims to create a strong therapeutic relationship. Throughout the course of therapy Dr. Weis learns about her clients through their lived experiences, stories, ideas, and values. Her approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Attachment Theory.
Dr. Weis earned her doctorate from Pacific University in Oregon, after completing a predoctoral internship at Wasatch Behavioral Health in Provo, UT. She then completed a postdoctoral residency at the Clark County Community Consortium in Vancouver, WA where she received specialized training in child/adolescent psychology. Her doctoral training emphasized evidence-based practice and culturally competent psychotherapy, research, and academic teaching. She has experience conducting psychological assessments, psychotherapy, and professional training in a variety of settings, including hospitals, schools, juvenile detention, community mental health clinics, and residential treatment centers. Dr. Weis strives to make every client feel comfortable talking about their experiences. Her goal is to empower clients to learn more about their mental health, grow healthy habits, and live a life that is in line with their values.
Dr. Weis is available for Telehealth sessions Monday through Thursday 9am to 5pm MST.
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
Race & cultural identity - Exploring topics of racial, cultural, and ethnic background as it relates to one’s family origins and personal identity
Relationship issues - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating
Adolescent mental health - Working with adolescents, teenagers, and parents on social, academic, and/or emotional challenges throughout teenage years; addressing anxiety, family conflicts, peer relationships, school stress, transition to college, social media pressures, self-esteem, hopelessness about the future, emotional disregulation
ADHD - Skill-building and support around organizational challenges, distracted attention, procrastination; building and maintaining healthy routines and structure
