Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHCJim Jenkins is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in St. Augustine, Florida. He works with ages young adults to seniors. Many of Jim’s clients experience difficulties managing emotions, either individually or with a significant other. Jim is particularly passionate when educating clients about understanding their inner emotional life, drawing upon multiple resources in sessions to guide his clients in developing helpful coping skills.
Jim is trained in both psychodynamic and behavioral approaches which provide an understanding of his clients’ emotional needs and a framework to guide changes the client can make toward a greater quality of life. Jim’s style is relaxed yet he is passionate about the work he does. Clients feel an understanding and acceptance from Jim which facilitates an environment of self-exploration and progress toward change. Change is hard and Jim acts as guide and coach to support clients in their exciting journey.
Jim received his Masters degree in Counseling from Western Carolina University in North Carolina. He has experience in a private psychiatric hospital and at Hospice in the Bereavement Department, working with patients who were dying and with the family members after the loved one has died. He has been in private practice for the last thirteen years while he has been a stay-at-home dad.

Couples counseling - Addressing relationship challenges and life transitions; strengthening communication and feelings of security, desire, connection, and love
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Loss, grief, and bereavement - Emotionally preparing for the anticipated passing of a loved one; managing feelings and reactions to a death or loss of significance; support during the process of healing and acceptance
Emotion regulation - Learning how to effectively manage the ups and downs of intense emotions; developing coping skills to use in a variety of settings to calm oneself and to give an appropriate amount of space to emotions
Procrastination - Learning how to identify instances of procrastination and what one’s procrastination patterns are; practicing mental health strategies to decrease the occurrence of procrastination
