Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWShe/They (open to any pronouns)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWJo Trigg is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years post-graduate experience providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families. Jo is a warm, empathetic, and engaging therapist. When working with Jo, you will be sure to receive 100% of their time, concentration, and attention.
Jo identifies as somewhere under the trans/non-binary/transmasculine umbrella, and therefore, brings a warm, non-judgmental attitude to the therapy space. As someone with a marginalized identity, Jo is adept at understanding how systemic oppressions compound additional life stressors. Jo enjoys working with all client populations, however, Jo has a particular interest in working with LGBTQIA+ families and couples, having completed a certificate in providing LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy in 2017.
Jo's ideal client is a couple, family, or gender expansive individual who is curious about therapy. Ideally, the person, couple, or family are willing to wonder what changes are possible; they may be surprised what can be accomplished when thinking about a problem differently.
Jo completed Ackerman Institute for the Family's Dual Program in 2020. Jo's therapy approach is rooted in the Ackerman Relational Approach (ARA), which emphasizes understanding relational patterns, and collaborating with the therapist in their understanding. The ARA focuses on empowering families and couples find ways to recognize, repair, or restructure entrenched patterns, which can become unstuck as long as couples and families are equipped with the right tools. Prior to attending Ackerman, Jo worked as a family therapist at a child welfare agency, and eventually, supervised that program. Jo brings extensive families and couples therapy experience to the therapy space.
Jo is based out of Brooklyn, NY and provides virtual sessions, making therapy more accessible to busy professionals, couples, and families than ever before.
