Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW-RJody Shelby is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing Individual and Couples therapy in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Long Island. She has over 30 years of experience and can understand the needs of individuals and couples across many life stages. She has training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness and EMDR Trauma Therapy.
In addition, she is highly skilled in treating Couples as a Certified Imago Therapist (CIT) through Imago Relationship International (an Institute devoted solely to Marriage and Couples Therapy). She provides a positive environment for couples and does not take sides. Couples learn to safely address their issues after learning communication techniques/strategies to effectively build a better connection and resolve issues.
Jody's therapy style is interactive, nonjudgemental and empathic. She creates an atmosphere where clients can feel free to share their concerns and actively work towards solutions. Jody's emphasis is on the client's strengths and resources. Her goal is to make clients feel valued and respected, while helping them grow.
