John is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience providing, designing, and implementing services for individuals, groups, and communities. He is skilled at and enjoys working with people across the age spectrum through individual, couples, and group counseling. His clinical expertise includes treating adolescents and young adults, anxiety, depression, trauma, anger problems, interpersonal conflict, Personality disorders, court-involved clients, and work-life balance challenges. He uses collaborative, person-centered, strength-based, trauma-informed, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral approaches – tailoring interventions to what works best for each client. He recognizes that the client-therapist relationship is the most important indicator to the success of treatment and is thoughtful in creating a safe and trusting space where clients can engage openly and with relative ease.
Principles of empathy, compassion and kindness are core components of his practice and integrated into all his work.
John possesses a unique knowledge of Connecticut and its resources having worked for state and community-based agencies in direct care, consulting, administrative, and leadership roles. He has facilitated reform efforts in troubled mental health agencies and juvenile justice systems across 3 states - leading to better outcomes for individuals and families served.
John graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Hartford and a Master of Social Work from the University of Connecticut. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Connecticut and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
Mood disorders - Clinical depression, persistent depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders that cause disturbances in the client's mood, causing mood swings, restless sleep, and/or elevated mood
