John Raspberry is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Tupelo, MS. John works with individuals, couples, and groups who would like to strengthen their mental health. Many of his clients suffer from anxiety. This anxiety can look like panic attacks, isolation, overwhelming feelings of dread, or insomnia. It can also look like constant rumination, worry, or inability to feel present in the moment. Often, this anxiety can be the result of a traumatic experience that leaves clients feeling insecure or unsafe in their lives. John helps these clients to process through their symptoms and develop the coping skills they need to feel comfortable in their daily lives.
John’s unique approach to therapy is called psychodrama. Psychodrama is a therapy modality that helps clients access their emotions through drama or theater exercises. John gently guides clients through action-oriented exercises, which often include movement. Clients can practice certain situations that make them particularly anxious, or take on new character personas entirely. John helps his clients feel more confident in themselves and express emotions that are otherwise difficult to unlock. He also helps clients relate to others and learn how to connect with others in healthy ways.
John earned a Master’s degree from the University of Mississippi. He has nearly 30 years of experience working with clients through a broad range of settings. He also offers psychodrama groups, which is another way of growing mental health by including others in the journey. John strives to be non judgmental and collaborative, and he never pushes clients to leave their comfort zones if they aren’t ready.
