Professional statement

Jolene Nell is a licensed clinical social worker providing on-line therapy in Oregon and Washington. She works with individual adults of all ages. Many of Jolene’s clients come to her with PTSD, depression, anxiety, or help managing challenging life transitions. Jolene is particularly passionate about serving members of the LGBTQ+ community. She is trained in EMDR and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for the treatment of PTSD/Trauma.

Jolene’s approach is eclectic. She works to create a treatment approach that meets the unique needs of each client. She draws from several different modalities including mindfulness, intersectional feminism, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and DBT. Therapy is a place to explore our relationship with ourselves and the world around us. Utilizing the therapeutic relationship, we look at how the patterns of interaction and coping have developed and explore the stories we’ve been told and tell ourselves. We use this information to find the places where new coping, new ideas and updated stories can help heal and restore connection and confidence in oneself and with others. In session you can expect a cooperative rapport, a sharing of ideas and experiences and an innate curiosity and respect for your journey.

Jolene's style is warm, curious, and non-judgmental. When clients first start therapy, she works to establish a comfortable environment where you can feel safe and heard, a place to share your story and find hope and healing.

Jolene received her MSW from Adelphi University. She has worked providing street outreach for at risk adolescents and in community mental health serving adolescents and adults. Outside of private practice, she enjoys spending time with her wife and kids exploring new places, having fun at the beach or “quiet” days at home. She is originally from Washington State and now makes her home in Oregon.

Message to clients

As a therapist, I am a neutral party who has no personal attachment to your story’s outcome, but my goal is for you to succeed. I am here to support you, be a sounding board and to hear your story.

I’ll help you uncover the underlying roots of your distress, gain new insights into old issues, and learn techniques and tools to manage the patterns created by anxiety, depression, self-criticism, and beliefs that don’t work for you anymore. These tools and techniques help you feel better and improve relationships.

I want to help you find your voice, feel your power, and be at home in yourself. Coming to therapy is hard work. It can feel scary and vulnerable and hard. But I believe in the process. I've experienced the change that is possible. I hold that hope for you too.
