Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC Specialties • Insurance & Fees • LocationsJoseph Autry is a licensed professional counselor in Virginia who helps people struggling with depression, anxiety, suicide ideation, school issues, addiction, anger management, parenting issues, and personality disorders.
Working together, you will be able to identify the causes of your depression and anxiety and work to find solutions. Therapy is a place where you can come to heal and grow. It is a safe, confidential place to discuss what is on your mind.
The two of you will find solutions to your problems and worries through compassion, empathy, and evidence-based techniques.
In the first session together, Joseph will get an idea of what is bothering you. He will help you run through a list of everything causing your anxiety and upsetting you. From there, the same will be done with stress. Together, you will work on a plan to deal with those causes and stressors. This will help you come out of sessions every week with a plan.
Over the years, Joseph has learned many evidence-based techniques but found Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Multisystemic Therapy to be the most helpful. These therapies find the cause of stress, anxiety, and depression and uncover solutions for your issues.
Joseph has worked with clients who feel depressed and have thoughts of hurting themselves. He has also worked directly with clients who feel so angry that they want to hurt others. You should never feel that your issues are too severe for counseling. Joseph is here for whatever you need in the session. If you need to cry in session, you can. If you need to yell, scream, or curse in session, you can. He will be there to help you figure out the causes to find solutions that improve your life.
